While UPS and FedEx rates look much more expensive than USPS, it is because they have residential and fuel surcharges calculated into the rates, and use publicly listed rates from both carriers, while many e-commerce sellers are able to negotiate better rates with UPS and FedEx. Even with negotiated rates, USPS typically comes out cheaper due to the lack of added surcharges.
